The Winter Buster!

The weather was not on its best condition when we left Plymouth. The snow had stopped the day before, after falling heavily for two days. Snowing is not a usual event here in the southwest part of UK, and we were joyfully jubilating its presence until we realised that it might affect our travel plans. There were much excitement in the Marjon’s Student Village as most of the occupants screamed and ran out of the house that morning. I think we were all too hyped up to see the soft minuscular flakes hitting the ground (it was a the-first-time-ever-feeling-real-snow experience for most of us). The unexpected appearance of snow is truly a wonderland for us!

With most of the transportation modes either cancelled or delayed, I must say that lady luck was always standing on our side. The travelling got smooth, all the way from Plymouth to Birmingham. At 6.23 in the morning, our train departed. The streets and sidewalks where thick snow have fallen, were all white. As we approached upper north, we were warned that the temperature there was much colder. True enough, it was freezingly cold when we got out from the train! We spent the day at Cadbury World before leaving for Liverpool. The tour was awesome with breath-taking encounter with chocolaty things. It was almost like entering the world of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. (:

We stayed for two nights in Anfield Stadium Guest House. It was just 7 minutes walk away from the Anfield Stadium where the epic Liverpool Football Club(LFC) would be in action. We were guided throughout the tour around its Shankly Gates, statue of Bill Shankly, press rooms, players’ dressing rooms and the pitch. It was awesome I tell you!

The next day, we went to one of Liverpool’s main attractions – Albert Dock. It was located in the heart of the city, and we walked quite a long way from the bus stops. It was fun though, because we got to see really great sceneries along the way. Albert Dock was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. As a result, it was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world.

Our fourth day of trip was spent in Manchester. And of course, we signed up for the Manchester Stadium tour. Haha. It was really amazing (I should stop saying this, I think I have used this adjective too often already now!), with the smell of the world famous homeground of Manchester City Football Club. Both the interior and exterior of the stadium were very spacious and well-designed. We could’ve spent the whole day there if we need not catch the train to London on that same day.

London. There is one word to describe it – foreigners. Well that was what I noticed, maybe it was due to the fact that we went there during the peak-season of travelling. And no doubt, it was packed with crowds speaking languages from all over the world. The last few days of our trip were unbelievably amazing – we visited the London Eye, Big Ben, House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, London Bridge and Hyde Park; we had a presents-exchanging celebration for Christmas; we had our first Boxing Day at the busy Oxford Street; we had Malaysian meals 2 times and Asian meals for another 2 times; we had a night out at a club; and we explored all the souvenir shops along Queensway Street repeatedly that I could still imagine the specific locations of each shop!

It’s snowtime!

While all the other places in the UK moaned over the heavy snowfall, Plymouth had its first snow today, approximately at 3.00am. (:

It’s all over the news that winter this year will be one of the worst in years.

I have been on an eating spree these few days. Yum Yum! Hello big tummy.

Getting a little busy these days, when assignment mode is off. Usual hangovers with delicious toppings of movies and stories.
